Motivating Minds

Ed is currently writing this book to help classroom teachers tackle the ever-increasing crisis of 'amotivation' in the classroom.  Many students have moved far beyond simply being 'unmotivated' they are quickly becoming 'amotivated.'  Dr. Barlow sheds a light on the solution to bring students back to being motivated and self-reliant learners.

NEEDS-SUPPORTIVE TEACHING AND ITS IMPACT ON STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI SCHOOLS

Despite the theoretical proposition that needs-supportive teaching practices, guided by selfdetermination theory (SDT), can positively influence student academic outcomes, research examining the relationship between teachers' self-reported needs-supportive behaviors and objective measures of student performance, such as standardized test scores, is scarce. This study investigated the correlation between teachers' needs-supportive practices, as assessed by the Teacher as Social Context Questionnaire (TASCQ), and their students' academic achievement based on standardized test results.

Impact of Parent-Teacher Communication on Student Behavior in the Classroom

Within the education field, methods to respond to poor student behavior differs from one class to another.  Instead of approaching discipline reactively, this study seeks to understand one possible and practical, proactive method; does an increase in beneficial communication between parents and teachers help impact student behavior in the classroom?
